About Us
blackJack-mAsters
is a professional BlackJack school based in Melbourne, Australia. We operate
a land based school in Australia and teach across the internet worldwide. Our
school was established by Andrew W Scott in 1993, and Andrew and his
staff continue to operate the school today.
At blackJack-mAsters,
we teach students throughout the world to become winning casino BlackJack players.
All home study tuition and in-person courses were designed by Andrew. All personalised
tuition is conducted by Andrew, and Chris assists him in providing ongoing
support to students. Our home study programs include professionally shot,
custom-made DVDs which we scripted and produced ourselves (also available in
video cassette format). We started teaching in 1993 in Melbourne, Australia,
and soon expanded to the rest of Australia, then New Zealand and Asia, and then
finally the US and the rest of the world.
Our mission is:
- To further the creation and development of professional BlackJack
players throughout the world.
- To provide an ongoing support network for our students.
- To assist our students in avoiding detection as skilled players by casino
personnel.
Our courses are Australia's most popular and most successful, although they
can be implemented worldwide. Many of our graduates now play profitably throughout
Australia and overseas.
Originally, blackJack-mAsters
was staffed only by Andrew. However, over the years this grew to a peak
of six staff in 2002. Through 2000 and 2001 especially we had a substantial
growth in our business, and the demand for our courses and support well exceeded
our capacity to meet that demand. We took extra staff on at that time which
helped us through this growth phase. Their presence allowed Andrew to concentrate
on creating various systems and procedures to deal with this higher demand on
our services.
With these new systems in place, coupled with the support we now provide through
our website, we were able to meet this level of demand with our now reduced
staffing levels, although former staff are still friends of blackJack-mAsters
and from time to time make posts in our student forums to help our current students.
Our current personnel:
Chris S Martin
Student Support and Business Manager
Chris was taught by Andrew in 2003, and has been with blackJack-mAsters
since 2005. Chris has lived and breathed BlackJack since first being taught
by Andrew in 2003 and since then has gained an excellent understanding both
of the theoretical and practical sides of winning professional BlackJack play.
After passing his table test he concentrated on BlackJack full-time, and has
played professionally not only in a number of Australian casinos, but also in
Las Vegas and various countries across Europe. Chris has mastered the game much
quicker than many other professionals, and as a student quickly cemented himself
as a regular and valuable contributor on our student forums. Chris has an eager
desire to share with others what he has learnt as well as constantly improve
his own game. Chris took up the position of Student Support and Business Manager
for blackJack-mAsters
on 1 October 2005. On 25 January 2006 Chris was promoted due to his exceptional
performance within the business. He now undertakes all the day to day operations
of the business, and provides all support to our professional course students.
Over the years Andrew Scott and Michael Walker have been the backbone of blackJack-mAsters.
Andrew and Michael are close friends and both professional BlackJack players.
Combined they have 31 years experience with professional BlackJack.
Andrew W Scott
Andrew is the founder of blackJack-mAsters.
He started playing professional blackjack in 1987 and founded our business in
1993. Andrew first started drawing a community of skilled casino players in
the early 1990s, and this community has grown around him since then. He designed
all of our products, services and home study courses. He also designed all the
ongoing coaching and monitoring programs. He personally conducts all our personalised
tuition sessions. He hand-picked all of the other blackJack-mAsters
staff from the very best of his students over the years. Andrew has played high
stakes skilled blackjack in over 150 casinos around the world including in the
US, Europe, Asia and the Australasia/Pacific region. Andrew now acts as a high
level consultant, conducting all our advanced courses and personalised tuition
courses. He is also available for private consultation sessions.
Michael Walker
Michael was taught by Andrew, started playing professional BlackJack in 1994
and has been with blackJack-mAsters
since 1996. Michael is arguably the best graduate we have ever had, having an
excellent understanding both of the theoretical and practical sides of winning
professional blackjack play. Along with Andrew, he is responsible for ongoing
member support for our high stakes members. Michael has played high stakes skilled
blackjack throughout the world and, alongside Andrew, has personally mentored
and managed the careers of our very best graduates. He has also won a six figure
first prize in a high stakes casino tournament.
Our former staff:
Brian Jackson was formerly our student support manager. He is another
of our top graduates. He started playing professional BlackJack under Andrew's
guidance in 1994 and joined blackJack-mAsters
in 2001. Brian was the nerve-centre of our business for administration and member
support, and managed our course booking and member support office. He also conducted
our in-person table tests as well as ongoing student coaching and reviews for
our newer students. Due to work and BlackJack playing commitments, Brian left
us in July 2004 but remains a great friend of blackJack-mAsters
and continues to post advice in our student forums.
Vincent DeAngelis started studying professional BlackJack in 1999 and
started playing in 2000. Vince joined blackJack-mAsters
in 2002 and left us in 2004. Vince's job was to design our new website and manage
computing and technology functions at blackJack-mAsters.
This included developing computer programs for management of and research into
existing and new winning gaming strategies. Once the development phase of this
job was completed in mid 2004 Vince was no longer required as a staff member,
and we wish him well in the future.
Gerard Phillips started studying professional blackjack
in 1999 and started playing in 2000. Gerard joined blackJack-mAsters
in 2002 and left us in 2004. Gerard provided administrative assistance and office,
equipment and inventory maintenance at our previous Southbank office. He was
also in charge of the multi-tiered physical security systems which protected
our files at the Southbank office. Gerard also assisted with advanced and master
course practical student training. A tireless worker, Gerard has racked up many
hours during late nights both of high stakes professional blackjack play in
the casinos and of in-person student training in our Southbank office. When
we closed our Southbank office in June 2004 Gerard was no longer required as
a staff member, and we wish him well in the future.
Peter O'Brien started playing professional blackjack in 1995, and joined
blackJack-mAsters
in 1999. Peter spends most of his time playing blackjack but in the past has
occasionally assisted with administration, student support and ongoing group
training sessions. Peter has played high stakes skilled blackjack in Australia,
Asia, Europe and the US and from 2004 was no longer required as a permanent
member of the blackJack-mAsters
team.
Our
office:
blackJack-mAsters
has been located at both Melbourne and Sydney, Australia. From 1 February 1999
until 1 June 2004 our permanent office and BlackJack training facility was located
at Suite 505 Southbank Towers, 83 Queensbridge Street, Southbank, Melbourne,
Australia, just a one minute walk from Crown Casino, one of the world's largest
casinos.
In June 2004 we moved to a new venue, which is set up as a practice casino
and training facility. After discussing the issue at length with our staff and
students, we have decided that our new venue will remain a secret location.
We will only disclose the location to students once they need to visit for a
table test or a practice casino night or whatever. There are certain advantages
and disadvantages of keeping the "practice casino" location secret,
but we have concluded that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
